remote shutdown IPC$ error

hi i downloaded this utility ip scanner to try out on my local network to see the remote shut down option well the machine on which i am running is win2000 pro and the machine i am trying to shut down is win98 i get this error message saying "cannot share ipc$ on remote machine" and then it says remote shutdown unsucessful i tried with both current user and as well as username and password can you guys tell me what am i doing wrong
Only Windows NT, 2000 and XP can be remotely shutdown. This is a Microsoft limitation, not a Advanced IP Scanner.

I have the same problem with two windoxs xp home
need solution please :D
Do you have "IPC$ error" on Windows XP home? If so - check username and password. Make sure, that target machine is available via network and it's network configured correctly.
