As I understand it, you would have to have the "no_tray server" installed on your pc. otherwise you would notice the " R " change colors in the icon on the taskbar

Thanks, The "R" is normally blue on the taskbar. Is this the standard color when not connected to another PC? And what color does it change to?

Yes " BLUE " is standard, it will change to " ORANGE " when someone is connected to you

spoooky! isnt it, instead of doing work you'll always be looking out for Orange "R".

I would say don't do things at work which can be doubtful or you think boss shouldn't find out about them.

Check the logs in /windows/system32/rserver30/Radm_log.htm

Unless the boss was careful enough to erase his or her connection, you should see the time and the IP address of every connection or connection attempt to Radmin 3.2

It is not a matter of "spying" by the boss. It is a matter of company security and privacy we all are entitled to, even in workplace. My company installed the software without informing anybody and, it seems that nobody is aware of the implications. If indeed the logs can be deleted then IT, who are the only users, can siphone off sensitive company information without anybody noticing and without a trace of proof.
It is also possible that when IT decide to make changes in your settings while you work and don't watch the "R" they can accidentally damage your work (it happened to me and it was not even remote access).
Thirdly, we all need occasionally do some private business while at work and wouldn't want anybody to watch our bank statements and credit card numbers.
In the previous company I worked for the remote access required the remote computer user permission.
This brings me to the main question: smile:?: Is there a setting I could change to allow me to stop the remote access to my workstation without my explicit permission ? I could not find it anywhere in the help function and FAQ which are obviously directed at the IT specialists and not at the potential "victims" of the nosy or bored IT department.

There is a special option in Radmin "Ask for user permission". Also Red icon in bottom corner helps.

In order to change Radmin settings, you of course need to have an access to Radmin settings... It is more about company policy, you need to contact your boss and/or IT engineer and explain the situation.

You, of course, did not understand the point. Your software can cost the company uncontrolled loss of sensitive data because it is possible to, this time I'll agree to the use the word, "spy" on employees without them knowing it. Moreover, if that happens, inncocent victims of that spying will be blamed for leaking sensitive data since it will be known that they had access to them while the "spy" will go unnoticed. Scary stuff. smile:!:
Would not recommend your software to anybody and will warn whoever I can.

Teresa, I'm glad you don't work for me (as, I'm sure, are you).

If you did, I would remind you that the computer provided for you to work on does not belong to you, and you have NO guarantee of privacy regarding anything you do on it. If you want to do something that you don't want your employer or IT department to see, then don't do it at work, period.

RAdmin is not perfect, and it could be used maliciously by unscrupulous people. So could any other remote access program. For employers that don't trust their employees (often with good reason), there are far better monitoring ("spying", if you prefer) programs out there. If you think RAdmin is "scary", then Spector CNE (http://www.spectorcne.com) will probably give you nightmares.

RAdmin isn't perfect, as I said before, and I have criticized Famatech in the past on points where they deserve criticism (licensing, for one). However, they do not deserve your paranoid criticisms about being "spy software"; that's the kind of thinking that has led in the past to RAdmin being wrongfully detected by antivirus software as a security threat, making life more difficult for IT personnel trying to support it.

So I guess I'll just have to positively recommend RAdmin to a few more people, thereby neutralizing your negative recommendations and making your efforts futile.

You can change this setting if you have an administrator access to your computer.

In RADMIN server options..>Incoming Connection Dialog>Ask User Permission.

Radmin, is a Great Product, since the begining, it's Growing nicely and no software is perfect as TekServer said, I think his post clears off the things.

Your IT departement needs no Radmin to access your data, if you doubt your IT guys, you should change them.

regards,

sorry if this post is alreay old.
