This would seem to be a deal breaker for us, having to activate all the server installations where we use RAdmin 3.0. If we have to activate the program, I think we will stick with good old 2.0 if there is NO version we can get from you that is pre-activated. For all I care, hard code our user key in the exe, so that if anyone gets hold of a copy, it can be traced back to us, anything to get around this dreadful activation.
Please guys, help us out on this, or at least reply to this thread to let us know what is to be done about this issue.
I completely agree. The problem I see is this. We are using this in a corporate environment. If a workstation goes down for any reason (virus, major config changes, anything) I take their box offline and use a shelved replacement. In the end only the legally purchased # of licenses are in use, but because of the activation I will be forced to call/email and have our activations reset everytime this happens? It makes using v3 more time consuming than working with v2 and no hook driver. All I ever wanted was a video hook driver for v2 and now I got that plus a headache known as activations.
Chris S. : In a few days tips for mass batch activation will be added to this Guide. May be you will find it useful in your case. If the overall amount of computer boxes in your corporation will remain constant, no new "activation attempts" will be used during continuous replacements/OS reinstalls.
Couldn't agree more. I am very disappointed in Famatech for doing this. We wait 5 years or so for RA 3.0 to be released, and then this. Another reason piracy sux, is that at the end of it all, the legit users have to suffer!!!
In the specification for Window servers we send to our customers we promote RAdmin for the remote control support solution.
95% of all the servers we need remote access to do NOT have internet access and we struggle with activation on many other products while we are RAdmin'd on that server. Gonna be hard to install all our other software if we cannot get onto the remote server in the first place due to THIS product now needing stupid activation.
You've just lost a lot of customers Famatech as I now plan on recommending a FREE alternative to all our future customers.
You can search usenet and find activation cracks for Radmin 3.0 already so you've wasted all this development time+money by trying to implement it, annoyed me and all your other loyal customers by thinking that you can beat those pirates out there - the loyal customer is the one being punished here, not the pirates!
Sorry Famatech, I'm very disappointed, you could have saved this activation development, released Radmin 3.0 a lot earlier and made MORE money by having it released sooner.

Activation on servers without internet access is possible. Please read our step-by-step instruction to find out how it works.

Activation system is made to prevent pirating.
Famatech products are known for its security so such a statement needs proof. If you have any please provide it to our technical support.

Very interesting! Does this allso means I don't have to install Radmin server locally on each and every pc, and can perform som kind of a batchinstall by logon-script?
I allso use Radmin in a corporate environment, and I even don't think about having to travel to all the locations to install and activate radmin one by one. Then I will stick to version 2.2 as long as I can, till Vista forces me to look for another remote adminstration solution.
So I am worried too!
Could you explain some more about this mass batch activation?
Even microsoft provided volume licenses that did not require activations.
Also, im sorry to tell you but I doubt it will be long before software pirates find a way around the activation anyways.
Also, what happens if your company goes out of business? We all rely on this software ... even without a video hook driver I have been using the software. It is likely that the software will be in use very very far in the future (assuming there is a way to activate it that far down the road). I already know the response: "We will not be going out of business". The problem is we have all been waiting an incredibly long time for 1 major feature, Video Hook, and the lack of a time line and even the rumors that you were going out of business without completing v3 were enough to scare ppl away. To be completely honest the only reason I bought licenses when I did was because of a promise of a video hook driver for 2k/xp. Well 5 yrs passed before I received that. 5 years was WAY too long!
I also work in a corporate environment with offices around the world and particularly in Africa. Sometimes we have internet accesses sometimes not. Activating a software in terrificly annoying particularly because working on the field with hot temperatures it happens quite often to break computers (particularly hard disks, we substitute about 15% of our hard disks every year) or to have to re-format the PC because of viruses (about once a year). R_admin has been always appreciated becase of its easiness of use. Unfortunately having to spend hours explaining to someone not specialist how to install their r_admin software we'll have to stick from many of our sites with R-admin 2.0. We're very disappointed. Please allow for an easier installation procedure if you buy ( for example ) more than 20 licenses. I really don't think that many pirates would ever buy more than 20 licenses.
I just examined the procedure for activating the software on servers without internet access.
In step 4 you're saying : "Copy the generated file computer_name.request and take it to a PC with Internet access." As indicated in the previous message there are some locations in Africa where you simply don't have internet access and telephone is very expensive too. Please try to find a solution which could prove helpful or we'll be obliged to find another software ( and we really don't want that since we are fond of r_admin since 6 years ). Regards
