is what you are talking about possible with these OS's?

If you mean automatic logon using NT SEcurity, this is possible under WinXP Home & Pro.

it possible to not let the server ask for a password

This is possible when using NT Security, but is not possible when using Radmin password (Radmin Viewer does not remember Server passwords for security reasons).

When the current user profile (the one you are logged under on the local machine) is added to Radmin's NT Security Permissions with proper rights on the remote machine, you won't be asked for username and password.

when a connection is made from the local network

Malicious users and viruses can be found even in small local networks.

Most probably, Radmin Communication Server is already running (it starts automatically). When a service is already running, it cannot be started for the second time. Try to connect to your Radmin Communication Server with Radmin Communication Client.

Is this feature working in your current internal beta of 3.0 server?

This question can be answered by our testing dept. only. I will ask our testing team manager to post his opinion here.

Please use http://www.famatech.com/support/testing.php to report this situation.

I agree that an applicatiuon should never freeze or hang.

However, with all respect, to me this report sound like "do you know that if you break the window with a baseball bat, you will have a lot of sharp pieces?"

Is any support for Remote to Local printing included in version3?

Yes, Radmin Server 3.0 will have this feature.

Now you can download only Radmin Viewer 3.0 part beta: http://www.radmin.com/radmin/new/ra/. We're doing our best to promptly finish with Radmin Server 3.0 development. Currently it's not available for public testing and download. We also advise you to test our new product Radmin Communication Server http://www.radmin.com/radmin/rcs/. You can subscribe to our newsletter if you'd like to be informed about all our releases, beta-releases and other information.

How then does a brand new product start with version 3.0?

That's because RCS and RCC are based on Radmin Server 3.0.

We are planning to extend Radmin 3.0 family with new additional products; they all will have version number 3.0.

Radmin ("the whole package") will include the RCS/RCC features, right?

Yes, but messaging features in standard Radmin 3.0 will be limited compared to RCS.

Quote
However, the hierarchy is totally different.

Yes, you are right.

Quote
Radmin's hierarchy is totally different: one client connects to one or more servers; as in, one computer has the Radmin Client, and the rest has Radmin Server.

This is correct and that's why it's not possible to build an enterprise instant messaging system with standard Radmin. However, RCS does allow this.

Please read this forum topic: http://www.famatech.com/support/forum/read.php?FID=24&TID=8444

Radmin Server 3.0 will also support Chat and Voice Chat features presented in RCS, but keep in mind that RCS will offer richer communication capabilities than Radmin Server 3.0, since RCS is a specialized product.

Quote
Also, why are RCS and RCC on version 3.0? Aren't they new products?

This is correct, but our executives decided that version number should be 3.0.

Ilia Demenkov

Also is there any sort of a bug tracking mechanism in place so that we can see the progress on the bug reports we have posted?

Certainly, Famatech, like any other serious software vendor, does use a bug tracking system, but this system is internal and can be accesses by Famatech employees only. Our bug tracking system contains confidential information and thus cannot be open. Radmin is not an open-source or public project, Radmin is a commercial software.

"b" means "beta". The version currently available is beta version, so "b" can be added to its version number.

Is there a release timeline somewhere that you could shared with us so we have some idea of how long it might be before we see the new version?

No. This means no new builds were released since April 2005.

So where is the radmin 3.0 server

Radmin Server 3.0 is not released yet.

RCS is not a replacement for Radmin 3.0, RCS is an another product.

Please read this forum topic: http://www.famatech.com/support/forum/read.php?FID=24&TID=8444

Radmin Server 3.0 will also support Chat and Voice Chat features presented in RCS, but keep in mind that RCS will offer richer communication capabilities than Radmin Server 3.0, since RCS is a specialized product.

Company policy does not allow distributing internal beta versions, so I guess you'll have to wait until public beta of Radmin Server 3.0 is released.
