Radmin in the financial industry: the example of "Greenfieldbank"

About Greenfieldbank

Founded in Moscow in 1994, Greenfieldbank was initially a provider of mainly corporate financial services. These days, it is a full-service bank with two regional branches which performs all the main types of banking transactions in the financial services sector. The bank’s IT environment consists of six servers at head office and two in each branch (running Linux OS). The total number of workstations is 90 (Linux or Windows 7). The bank had previously used the open source software package Tight VNC for its remote control needs.

The problem

Nikolay Sapunov, head of Greenfieldbank’s IT-department: "We stopped using VNC, because of the program’s high demands with regard to channel width, its low resistance to attacks such as ‘brute force’. If we used more than five simultaneous connections, the work of other services in our organization slowed down significantly, and remote desktops responded slowly to the actions of IT specialists."

The solution

After testing a fully-functional trial version of Radmin for 30 days, the Head of the Automation Department of Greenfieldbank decided to purchase a Radmin license package. According to Nikolay Sapunov, the characteristics that distinguish the program from its competitors are: low resource requirements, the wide range of functions for managing remote systems, partial cross-platform capabilities, and sufficiently high protection.

"After implementing Radmin, we noticed a sharp decrease in the utilized capacity of our communication channels. We no longer experience connection problems between our branches and our workstations running Windows 7 and Linux OS (Wine + Radmin Viewer). The use of common security standards for a remote access system for all our bank’s departments allows us to be confident in the security of our information environment."
